Drinking Water
The water is dark in color as it comes straight from the mountain, it is clean & drinkable. You are welcome to bring your own. There is a large JoJo tank with rain water next to the cabin, which is also available to guests.
Nature & Surroundings

Please be aware that this property is surrounded by natural Fynbos vegetation, which is home to various small wildlife. During your stay, you may encounter creatures such as birds, field mice, spiders, or snakes. We kindly advise guests to exercise caution and avoid letting children play in or near the bushes.

Other
Wood fired hot tub: we fill the tub with fresh water before your arrival, please do not empty the tub during your stay (unless arranged with us, as we’d have to manually refill the tub, which might not always be possible). To heat your tub, start a fire in the stainless steel oven, in the section under the ‘pipes’, meaning not directly where you look into the oven. Keep the cover on the water while heating up as this assists in locking in heat and water heating quicker). It’s important that the fire be under the pipe section of the oven, also you need flames to heat the fire and not coals, therefore you need to constantly add a few pieces of wood to your fire. You’ll notice the lid of the tub’s oven needs to be slightly open, for airflow to ensure the fire burns properly. Baboons: Baboons generally keep their distance and won’t come up to the cabin. On rare occasions, you may hear them calling in the valley or mountains. To avoid attracting them in the future, please don’t leave food unattended on the patio when you’re not at the cabin. Smoking & Braaing: Smoking is not permitted inside the cabin. On very windy days, smoke from the braai may drift indoors. If this happens, simply open the small window in the bathroom to create airflow and the smoke will clear quickly, so you can continue enjoying your braai. Privacy: The cabin is located on private property, with no other guests, workers, or passersby allowed. You’ll enjoy complete privacy and uninterrupted relaxation during your stay. Furniture: You are welcome to open the stacking doors onto the patio. If you’d like to move furniture outside, please do so with care to avoid leaving marks on the floor. Gas Geyser & Stove Hob: Both the geyser and stove run on gas. If the water does not heat, the gas bottle may be empty. A spare bottle is available and can easily be switched over. The second key on your key set (found in the lockbox) opens the small door next to the outside chimney. Once open, simply close the empty bottle and turn on the full one. The water should then begin heating again. Please let us know if you’ve switched bottles so we can arrange a refill after your stay. If you’d prefer assistance, we’re happy to help.
Load Shedding & Solar
Electricity: the cabin operates completely off the grid, using solar only. Therefore, above mentioned appliances (microwave etc) are not in the cabin, please do not bring your own along. Please do not use items such as hair dryers and straighteners. Please let us know if you have any issues with the power.
House Rules
Smoking – No smoking allowed inside the cabin. Ash trays provided can be emptied into the bin.
