Nature & Surroundings

Please be aware that this property is surrounded by natural Fynbos vegetation, which is home to various small wildlife. During your stay, you may encounter creatures such as birds, field mice, spiders, or snakes. We kindly advise guests to exercise caution and avoid letting children play in or near the bushes.

Other
Lapa/Boma area: For electricity in the Lapa/Boma area, switch on the switch next to kitchen door labelled “Lapa”. The Lapa is a covered outdoor braai area where you can spend time outside even on windy days. Outside Shower: Please rinse off beach sand using outside shower (on stoep, in front of house), rather than indoor shower as drain will get clogged. SAFETEY: Although remotely located, we've not had any safety issues at this property. For peace of mind guests can activate the beams around the house while they are inside the house. All windows and doors are secured with safety gates. Guests might spot our local abalone poachers on the beach (unfortunately they are quite active in our area), rather avoid them and do not engage in conversation. As long as you don’t bother them, they won’t bother you. Please do not wash the potjie or the large stainless-steel pan in the kitchen basin, as the basin is made of porcelain (cracks easily with heavy item placed inside), please rather wash at outside tap.
Load Shedding & Solar
Solar Electricity: The cottage operates completely off the grid, working only on solar panels, gas oven/stove & gas geysers. To prevent solar batteries from running out, please use majority of electronic devices during daytime rather than night (such as chargers etc). Please do not use appliances such as hairdryers and straighteners. Do not leave outside lights on during the day. On overcast days the batteries take longer to charge, so be especially mindful of electricity usage. If the power does run out, batteries will need to recharge, taking about 2 hours – please let us know if your power does go off, so we can assess any possible issues & possibly fix, as power shouldn’t run out if used sparingly.

Capacity – This home sleeps a maximum of 8 people. Please respect the capacity of the house; more than permitted number of guests will result in eviction. No refund will be considered. NO CAMPING ALLOWED. Day visitors allowed, please inform us of visitors. Smoking – No smoking allowed inside the house. Ash trays provided can be emptied into the bin.
