Braai Wood: Large bags with offcut Rooikrans available @ R50 per bag. Located on the patio, by the hot tub area. Wood is in white bags, payment can be left in cash or EFT. Showers: The showers work with gas geysers, which can be finicky when going from hot to cold, so just be gentle when adjusting shower temperatures, showers in the far end of the house may take a little longer to heat up at first. Let the hot water run for a few minutes to ensure properly heated up. Pets: House pets are welcome. Although the property is fenced, we cannot guarantee that pets won’t be able to get out. Note there is a large bush area on the property. The neighbors also have dogs. Woodfired Hot Tub: The woodfired hot tub outside on the stoep can be enjoyed by guests. Very important to first fill the tub with water before lighting a fire in the stainless-steel box. The tub can take 2 to 4 hours to heat up, depending on outside temperature. Please do not move coles from your braai fire, into the tub’s fire place, as this is a massive fire hazard. The best way to ensure heating of the tub, is to make the fire under the ‘pipe section’ inside the oven, so not directly in the open you look into. Ensuring there are flames and not just coles, is also important in heating up the water quicker. The lid of the oven needs to be left slightly open, to ensure airflow to keep fire burning. There are also several videos on YouTube explaining wood fired hot tubs if you really unsure.
Load Shedding & Solar
The house runs entirely on solar power and is completely off the grid, thus not affected by loadshedding. Please use electricity thoughtfully to help conserve energy. A backup generator will automatically switch on if the solar batteries run low. On cloudy or overcast days, the batteries may take longer to recharge, so we kindly ask that you use electricity sparingly during these times. Please note that the water pump also relies on electricity — if the power runs out, water pressure may be affected. If you experience any issues with the electricity, please let us know right away.
House Rules
Music/Parties: Please note this house is located in a neighborhood with surrounding houses, therefor we ask that noise levels be lowered from 10PM please. Owner’s Private belongings: Cupboards closed with cable ties are the homeowner’s private belongings. Cable ties that are clipped and opened by guests can be fined at R1 000. Camping & Number of guests: No camping on the property without prior approval. Guests are charged based on the number of people in the booking. Additional guests beyond what was disclosed may incur penalties. There is a caravan on the premises, which can be added to your booking at an additional cost. Security Cameras: CCTV cameras monitor the exterior of the property for safety and security.
